There is a big difference between talking about sustainability and standing in the middle of a landscape your business is helping to protect and improve.

That was the focus of a recent Cloudforests field visit when members of our CoolPartner Plus community — Solar Precision, DampMaster and Midsummer Ireland — joined us to visit Cloudforest One, Cloudforest Four and Cloudforest Six in County Clare.

The visit gave our partners an opportunity to see first-hand the forests, habitats and conservation projects their support helps make possible.

Our CoolPartner Plus programme is designed for businesses that want to go beyond environmental statements and become actively involved in practical, long-term climate and biodiversity action in Ireland.

And sometimes the best way to understand that impact is simply to put on the boots and visit the forests.

Three Cloudforests. Three Different Landscapes.

Our journey took the group across three very different Cloudforest locations in County Clare.

Cloudforest One – Lahinch, County Clare

Cloudforest One is where the Cloudforests story began.

Located near Lahinch on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, it was our first forest site and has developed into an important showcase for our approach to woodland creation, biodiversity and technology.

Approximately 21,000 trees were originally planted at Cloudforest One, including species such as oak, birch, rowan, alder and willow. The site also incorporates technology that allows the development of the forest to be monitored over the long term.

Cloudforest One has subsequently become home to additional conservation initiatives, including our work supporting the Native Irish Honey Bee.

For visiting CoolPartners, it provides a powerful example of something that is central to our mission: environmental action should be visible, accessible and capable of being followed over many years.

Cloudforest Four – Ennistymon, County Clare

Next was Cloudforest Four, situated just outside Ennistymon.

At approximately 30 acres, Cloudforest Four provides another example of the scale on which our community is working to create and improve habitats along Ireland's west coast.

The visit allowed our CoolPartner Plus members to walk the site and see the landscape behind the photographs, reports and environmental updates they receive through their partnership.

Creating woodland is not simply about counting trees.

It is about developing functioning habitats where trees, plants, insects, birds and other wildlife can establish and thrive over time.

That long-term approach is at the heart of the Cloudforests mission.

Cloudforest Six – Querrin and the Shannon Estuary

The group also travelled to Cloudforest Six at Querrin, overlooking the Shannon Estuary on the Loop Head Peninsula.

Querrin represents another exciting chapter in the growth of the Cloudforests network.

Our plans for this site include the establishment of approximately 9,000 native trees, creating another significant native woodland and biodiversity project on Ireland's western coastline.

Standing on the site makes the scale of that ambition much easier to appreciate.

Today's open landscape can become tomorrow's woodland — providing habitat, supporting biodiversity and creating a long-term environmental legacy.

We were delighted to welcome representatives from Solar Precision, DampMaster and Midsummer Ireland on the visit.

These companies operate in different areas of Irish business, but they share something important: a willingness to support practical environmental action.
