Enerpower Announces the Installation of Ireland’s Largest Combined Solar PV and Heat-Pump System, in Partnership with Tricel

In April, one of our incredible CoolPartners Enerpower (CoolPartner 032) and Tricel Killarney announced the installation of Ireland’s largest combined Solar PV and heat-pump system. Last week, they announced the successful completion of this 776kWp Solar PV System at Tricels facility in Co. Kerry

A combined Solar PV and the heat-pump system will complement each other as solar panels will help generate a self-sufficient flow of electricity to help reduce electricity bills and heat pumps work by transferring heat throughout the facility, the compressor inside the device takes the cold air from outside and increase the temperature to transfer around the facility.

During this 776kWp Solar PV install, Enerpower installed a total of 1,744 JA Solar Panels across two units at the Kerry facility. They also installed 3 heat pumps at Tricels facility. A 30kWp heat pump, 20kWp heat pump, and an 11kWp heat pump. It is estimated that the heat pumps will generate a combined total of 51,750 kWh per year.

The completion of both renewable energy sources will greatly benefit Tricel as they now produce their own form of electricity whilst also producing their own source of heat through the heat pumps.

Speaking on the installation, Owen Power, Managing Director of Enerpower said “Enerpower are passionate about pushing the boundaries in sustainable self-sufficiency for the commercial and industrial sectors and we are very proud to have worked on behalf of Tricel to deliver this combined Solar PV and Heat Pump system. Solar energy has become one of the cheapest sources of electricity generation and this combination of self-generation with heat pump technology protects Tricel against future energy price increases while also reducing their carbon emissions. Tricel now produces their electricity whilst also generating their form of heat. Enerpower is delighted to have worked on this project and helped Tricel fulfill its sustainability goals.”

This is a brilliant achievement for Enerpower. We are proud to have them as part of the CoolPartner Community and it’s great to see their commitment to Making Planet Earth Cool through projects like this.
